A saltwater pool with salt chlorination is a comfortable and largely automated way of disinfecting your pool water.
We supply, install and maintain CTX and AstralPool salt chlorination systems. We can also convert an existing pool system with traditional chlorine dosing to salt chlorination.
How does salt chlorination work?
With a salt chlorination system, a small amount of salt is added to the pool water.
The water then flows through the electrolytic cell. Through electrolysis, chlorine is produced from the dissolved salt. This chlorine disinfects the pool water.
A saltwater pool is therefore not chlorine-free. The difference is that the system automatically takes care of a significant part of the chlorine production for you.
Benefits of a saltwater pool
A saltwater pool offers several benefits.
Less manual chlorine dosing
The salt chlorination system produces chlorine from the salt in the pool water. This means you need to add chlorine manually less often.
Pleasant swimming water
Many people find saltwater pools pleasant to swim in. The water can feel softer, and the typical strong chlorine smell may be less noticeable.
Automated disinfection
While the system is running, chlorine is continuously produced. This means that an important part of the disinfection process is managed automatically.
A more convenient way to maintain your pool
Salt chlorination automates an important part of the water treatment process.
However, professional maintenance and regular water checks remain important.
Our brands
We work with CTX and AstralPool salt chlorination systems.
Which system is suitable depends on your pool and the existing pool equipment. That is why we assess the complete installation before recommending a system.
Converting your existing pool to salt chlorination
Do you currently have a traditional chlorine dosing system?
We can convert your existing pool installation to salt chlorination.
We assess the existing pump, filter and water circulation and determine how the new system can be integrated into the installation.
Salt chlorination maintenance
Like other technical components of your pool, a salt chlorination system requires regular maintenance.
During every maintenance visit, we analyse the pool water and check the water parameters. Where necessary, we adjust them and add chemicals.
We also inspect the technical installation and check that the salt chlorination system is operating correctly.
Replacing the electrolytic cell
The electrolytic cell is a wear component and has a limited service life.
Under normal conditions, the cells we use have an average lifespan of approximately 10,000 operating hours. In practice, this generally corresponds to around 4 to 6 years, depending on usage.
When the cell reaches the end of its service life, we can replace it for you.
We usually keep the required cells for the 12-gram and 21-gram models in stock. This means we can often replace a worn cell quickly.
Salt chlorination repairs
Is your existing system not working properly?
We can inspect the installation and repair it where possible. If a component needs to be replaced, we can take care of this for you.
We keep many commonly required components in stock, allowing us to resolve problems quickly in many cases.
Salt chlorination and professional pool maintenance
Salt chlorination automates an important part of the water treatment process, but your pool still requires regular maintenance.
During every visit, we check:
- Water quality
- Water parameters
- Pool pump
- Pool filter
- Salt chlorination system
- Other technical equipment
This allows us to keep both the water and the technical installation in good condition.
Frequently asked questions

How long does an electrolytic cell last?
On average, approximately 10,000 operating hours, which in practice generally corresponds to around 4 to 6 years.
Do you replace electrolytic cells?
Yes. We inspect and replace electrolytic cells. We usually keep cells for the 12-gram and 21-gram models in stock.
